Career Coaches Positions
Job Summary: While the services of the identified College and Career Coaches will be available to any Arkansan, the College and Career Coaches will specifically target those youth and adults who are most in need of career planning. One of the specific targets will be youth from low-income backgrounds (TANF or TANF eligible families). College and Career Coaches will identify these students while they are in high school and encourage them to aspire to postsecondary education, workforce training and/or apprenticeships as the means to a career that will afford economic self-sufficiency. Adults who will be specifically targeted will include Career Pathways participants, TANF and TANF eligible adults, and adults who are unemployed or who face job loss if they cannot acquire the skills to transition from one career to another.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities may include some of the following:
- Providing early outreach to low-income students and their parents with information about the importance of postsecondary education, as well as accurate information on how to prepare, apply, and pay for it.
- Providing interest inventories and skills assessments to assist individuals in making informed career decisions.
- Facilitating the development of individual career plans and portfolios.
- Assisting students with enrolling in education or training programs.
- Providing information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements. Providing opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities.
- Providing or connecting low-income students to support services that will ease the transition to postsecondary education.
- Providing information on how to earn the General Educational Development (GED) credential.
- Providing information on how to earn a Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy (WAGE) certificate.
- Connecting educationally disadvantaged youth and adults to "bridge programs" that teach basic academic skills in the context of training for advancement to better jobs and postsecondary education.
- Connecting students to academic enrichment activities such as study groups, tutoring, and workshops on study skill
- Connecting high school students to early college programs, Advanced Placement classes, and academic and career and technical education (CTE) and concurrent-credit enrollment.
- Providing a continuum of career guidance to ease the transition of students from middle school to high school to postsecondary education or training and ultimately to the workplace.
- Other duties may be assigned, which relate to the mission and goals of the Arkansas Works program.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Experience in higher education or a public school environment is preferred.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision. Excellent computer skills with a strong background in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and in public presentation settings.

Dean of Business and Technology

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean's position directs activities related to Secondary Technical Career Center, Trade and Industry Programs, Information and Business Technology Programs as well as faculty and staff within the programs.
Qualifications: Master's Degree required ,doctorate preferred, and at least three years of management and supervisory experience in a community college; eighteen semester hours credit in an applicable discipline, teaching experience in higher education (community college or university level),demonstrated skill in curriculum development, program evaluation, planning and budgeting; ability to maintain a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

Director of Institutional Research
The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville is seeking a Director of Institutional Research. The Director of Institutional Research conducts statistical and analytical studies that support the academic and administrative functions of the college. The director compiles and interprets information for enrollment analysis, assessment, planning and budgeting; prepares internal and external reports; assists in providing campus users and the public with timely access to data and information; and serves as liaison to a variety of campus groups. The director reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research Planning and Assessment.
Specific duties include: coordinate the collection and submission of IPEDS data; coordinate the administration of CCSSE and other similar surveys; report data back to campus groups; compile data to support grant applications; provide data to support reports to accrediting agencies; submit data to comply with ADHE/legislative requests; review practices and measures of institutional effectiveness and goals; assist with collection and reporting of assessment data; responsible for compiling data for the UACCB fact book and the division's data pages; and complete on-going and ad hoc data requests.
Qualifications: master's preferred, bachelor's required in math/statistics, education, business or social science; minimum of 3 years experience in higher education, preferably in institutional research; strong analytical ability and experience with interpreting statistics; advanced computing skills, especially with databases, spreadsheets, queries and statistical software; experience with Datatel preferred; ability to work independently, attend to multiple projects simultaneously, deliver accurate results and meet deadlines; and ability to work in a collaborative environment and interact effectively with different college constituencies.

Division Chair of Community Education

The Division Chair of Community Education works under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Instruction. The Division Chair is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Division which include: working with business and industry to assist in determining training needs; implementing a schedule of non-credit community education courses each term; recruiting, supervising, and evaluating instructors and facilitators of business and industry training classes. The Division Chair will also supervise the Career Pathways Program and the Adult Education component of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, plus perform other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Instruction This is a twelve month position and will require an evening work schedule.
Qualifications include a master's degree in community education, industrial relations, business or a related field, plus two years of experience in higher education; supervisory experience; and experience in planning and implementing courses for the community and workforce. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the basic requirements upon approval of the Chancellor. The position will be available January 4, 2010.

Under the direction of the College President, the Vice President of Student Services serves on the President's Leadership Council and maintains regular communication between the Council and the divisions and departments relating to Student Services. The Vice President of Student Services is responsible for providing campus-wide leadership, supervision, guidance, and direction for student services including enrollment management, recruitment, retention, TRIO services, learning center, counseling, advising, college transition, and staff within the divisions and departments.
